Florence Griffith Joyner was born in South Los Angeles December 21, 1959. She died September 21, 1998 at age 38. She was pretty young. She began running track at age 7 and also at age 14 she won the Jesse Owens Youth Games. She attended California State University
Her nickname is Flo-Jo. She became a track star. She coached Al Joyner, then she married him in 1987. In 1989 she told everybody she was retiring from track. She was a triple gold medallist in 1988 Olympic Games. She was the fastest woman in the world.
